what to do
Trace and cut out patterns. Trace boot and ruffle patterns onto card stock or light weight cardboard. Trace boot on wrong side of fabric; reverse pattern and trace again. Cut boot pieces leaving ¼" from traced edges for seam allowance. Set aside.
Fold ruffle fabric in half with right sides facing out; trace ruffle pattern onto folded edge. Cut ruffle leaving ¼" from traced line. Sew a running stitch ¼" from cut edge. Pull threads to gather and to fit inside top edge of boot pieces, leaving ¼" of boot at each side. Pin straight edge of ruffle to right side of top edge of one boot piece so raw edges are aligned.
With right sides together, sew boot pieces together along traced lines leaving an opening where indicated on pattern and making sure not catch ruffle in seams. Remove pins. Trim corners and curves. Turn right side out. Stuff boot firmly allowing it to stand straight. Slip-stitch opening closed.
Steep tea in cup of hot water. Soak eyelet lace in tea to antique. Wring out lace and dry; iron smooth. Sew a gathering stitch down center of eyelet; gather to length marked on boot pattern. Knot thread. Apply Fray Check to eyelet ends. Adhere lace to boot; pin to hold while drying.
Cut 5" from ribbon for hanger and set aside. Tie remaining ribbon length in bow; apply Fray Check to ends. Adhere bow to boot at top of lace. Adhere buttons onto lace.
Fold 5" ribbon length in half and tie ends together. Sew knot to back of pincushion to hang on wall.
