Submission Guidelines

We pride ourselves at Crafts 'n Things® to be able to provide our readers with a wide variety of wonderful, original designs created by a wide range of designers and manufactures in the industry. After conducting an intensive reader-survey, the following are the main criteria we are looking for when considering projects for publication:

  • Our readers have indicated that some of their favorite techniques include sewing, needlework, paper crafts, rubber stamping, floral arranging, beading, painting and clay. We also consider projects that follow the most recent trends.
  • We are always on the lookout for projects incorporating a mix of Traditional Country, Classic, Contemporary, Vintage and French Country styles.
  • We prefer projects with limited supply lists and easy-to-follow directions and primarily aimed at the intermediate to advanced level crafters. We will accept projects at a beginner level as well, but our readers preferred to be challenged.
  • Provide step-by-step photos whenever possible, along with crafting tips and technique information if needed. Any variations to projects are also beneficial
  • We encourage the use of new techniques, as well as some of the tried and true techniques that are still popular.
  • Use of current popular color schemes and themes should be considered when finalizing projects.

If you would like to submit an original craft idea for possible publication, e-mail submissions are preferred. We ask that you follow these guidelines:

Please include the following in your e-mail:

  • Digital photo (.jpg) of the item(s)
  • Complete instructions, including the address, phone number, and website of each source listed.
  • Your address
  • Both daytime and evening phone numbers

If you are unable to e-mail your submission, you may make your submission via the mail. For mail submissions, include the above e-mail items listed, submitting the instructions in a typed format. A digital photo (.jpg) is preferred, but a clear printed photo is acceptable. If possible, please provide your e-mail address.

Be sure to write your instructions in a detailed manner, as if you were teaching a class. Use a current issue as a guide. Be sure to include the following:

  • time it takes to complete the project;
  • complete list of materials used (include: brand names and ® or ™ as provided on packaging. Sources will be included at the Editorial Department's discretion, keeping in mind that print space is limited);
  • all steps taken to complete the project;
  • all patterns needed;
  • any illustrations that may make the instructions more clear. (Note: If drawing a cross-stitch or needlepoint chart, draw one symbol for each color, using a black grid and black ink. DO NOT color in chart squares.)

Please be patient. We will respond to you via e-mail (if provided). If you do not hear from us within four weeks, please e-mail Annie at aniemiec@amoscraft.com to check on the status of your project.

E-mail submissions are preferred. However, original designs can be sent to the address below, marking the envelope – Attention: Submissions.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact Annie via e-mail. You can also contact us us using our online support form.

We are looking forward to working with you as a contributing designer for Crafts 'n things.
